Dr. Tian obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in physical chemitry from Jilin University in 1994 and 1997. He received his Ph.D degree from the University of Guelph, Canada in 2001. He did his postdoctoral works at the University of Ottawa from 2001 to 2003 and at the University of British Columbia in Canada from 2003 to 2004. He was a JSPS fellow associated with Kyushu University from 2004 to 2005 in Japan. He then took a full professor position at Jilin University from 2005 to 2014 and at Harbin Institue of Technology from 2009 to 2014. He was a visiting professor in condensed mater theory of physics at the University of Louisville in USA from 2007 to 2008. He moved to Chongqing University as a professor of chemistry in 2014. He is interested in studying the structure and properties of nanomaterials with electronic structure theories.
